Tenerife Activities
Be it a leisurely sailing trip or an abseiling adrenalin rush, Tenerife is the place to do it, under year round warm sunshine!
Many, but certainly not all activities take place on or near the sea. Water skiing, especially in the south where the unpolluted warm sea (about 20c) is a popular to blow away the cobwebs!
Wind surfers and surfers take advantage of the trade winds to enjoy their sport and El Medano beach, which has lovely golden sands, is where they gather together to seek out significant waves.
Want a bird’s eye view of the coast line – try parasailing! It is an exhilarating experience and a colourful one for onlookers with coloured parachutes floating against the blue sky.
For those who enjoy, or want to try diving (both off-shore and scuba) there are a number of centres catering for both the experienced and beginner. Qualified instructors should be sought to guide those less experienced.
Deep sea fishing and sailing are two other water-based sporting activities and if either of these is of interest, advanced enquiries are advised.
Land based activities include golf, where again advanced enquiry is recommended. Most of Tenerife’s courses are based in the south of the island and offer a mix of golfing challenge combined with wonderful vistas.
Walking and hiking are very popular and there are over 20 designated walking routes across the island. In the Parque National del Teide, there are a number of both guided and sign posted walks and hiking trails.
Go-karting and Safaris (usually in jeeps) are the two most popular wheel based sporting activities on the island.
